THRU THESE STATES - TENNESSE - ARKANSAS– OKLAHOMA- KANSAS - MISSOURI - COLORADO

STORIES OF USA CANADA 3 month trip ( shipped bike over from australia)

MEMPHIS TO COLORADO – VIA THE OZARKS

STOPPING AT -JASPER - TULSA – DODGE CITY – COLORADO SPIRNGS

Leaving Memphis we originally intended to head south west via Oklahoma and make a stop at Eagle Rock and K River Campground.

However… everyone told us about the Ozarks and checking the map we decided to head North West and capture this lush area, which then meant we needed to head across Kansas and into Colorado from the northern end.

The Ozarks is just beautiful and while there are a number of signature rides around there, we did what we could fit in. Staying at Jasper.. we took the Jasper Disaster ride. The Jasper Disaster has the name for good reason! Mile for mile, this route is the curviest riding route. The route encompasses the most beautiful scenic section of Highway 7, follows Highway 74 over the mountains and joins Highway 43 in Boxley Valley.- We did a small section of the Pigtail also.. but that was in the wrong direction for us.. as we made our way out of the state towards Tulsa. The Pigtail is a 24 mile ride and one of Arkansas premier rides and USA Today list this ride as the # 2 best ride in America. What a bummer. We missed the entire length. but can’t do everything.

Riding this section with a pretty bald front tyre was a worry, but made it to Tulsa to get that changed.

Onto Dodge City next day where Gunsmoke was based and here I needed a new battery! The studio filmed Gunsmoke in Kanab, Utah, instead of Dodge City. Even though the show's producers didn't film there, the city has plenty of historical sites and original buildings to show its guests. The birthplace of Dennis Hopper, Dodge City also has numerous figures of the American Old West during its period as a frontier Cowtown. These included, most notably, lawmen Wyatt Earp as well as gunfighter Doc Holiday

The roads out of the Ozarks are pretty straight from here on, so lots of time to reflect on what an amazing adventure this is, beautiful places and fabulous people. It was also very hot and my little cup holder filled with ice was a pleasant relief .. even though it melted quick i had cool water when it did !!

Soon we are in Colorado … Until then - stay safe and thanks for joining me xxxx
